Whether you’re new to the area or just looking for a church home, we’re really glad you stopped by, and we think you will be, too. We know visiting a church for the first time can feel intimidating, so we’d love to answer a few of the questions you might be wondering about. (And yes…our website is new too, so if you don’t find everything you’re looking for yet, check back soon!)
- What time are services on Sunday?
- Sunday morning we have three things happening:
- 9:00-10:00 is our Sunday School hour. Currently, there are two adult classes and one teen class that meet from 9:00-10:00. The format is conversational, and you are welcome to jump right into the discussion or sit back and listen. All classes meet on the east wing of the building and you would be very welcome to try out any of them!
- 10:00-10:30 – fellowship over coffee, juice, and often, diet-busting goodies. Come visit, catch up with others, laugh, and relax together
- 10:30-11:40 – morning worship hour. Low-key and relaxed, it’s a time to worship, serve, and learn about God and His love for us together. On any given Sunday you’ll see everything from jeans and shorts to dresses and slacks. Wear whatever helps you feel comfortable. Bring your coffee, relax, and come see what God has for you.

- What sort of music do you have?
- Everyone has different styles and preferences when it comes to music, and while no individual service could ever meet every one of them, we do have a few guiding principles that we like to follow:
- We believe worship is first and foremost directed toward God. That’s why you’ll notice many of our songs speak directly to Him in praise, thanksgiving, and dependence.
- Our music blends timeless hymns with modern worship songs. On a typical Sunday you’ll hear some combination of piano, violin, guitar, bass, and drums.
- Most importantly, we care deeply about what we sing. We choose songs with lyrics that are faithful to Scripture because we believe God’s truth should shape both our worship and our lives.
- Everyone has different styles and preferences when it comes to music, and while no individual service could ever meet every one of them, we do have a few guiding principles that we like to follow:
- Will people swarm me before or after the service?
- Probably not. At Whiteville Alliance, we value relationships, so whether it’s your first day or your 40th year here, someone is going to be glad to see you. We don’t mean to ‘smother’ you – we just want to show the love of Christ to our friends, no matter how long we’ve known each other!
- Will we have to stand the whole time?
- Nope; in fact, you won’t ‘have to’ stand at all. While many do often stand during times of singing or Bible reading, it’s not required; we like to say, “If you’re comfortable doing so, please stand” – but if you’d rather sit, hey, we just want you to be comfortable and to experience the presence of the Lord during your visit with us.
- What should I expect from the sermon?
- Every week we want to see what the Bible says, why it matters, and how it applies to everyday life. Whether you’ve followed Jesus for decades or you’re simply curious about Christianity, our goal is to help you know God more through His Word. Sermons blend Scriptural truth, personal application, and just a touch of humor in order to help you know, embrace, and apply God’s Word to your life today.
